Monte Nickles

Monte Nickles is a professional audio engineer based in Columbus, Montana. Listening to and performing music has been an important part of his life from an early age. After learning to play trumpet in grade school, he continued studying the instrument at Northwest College in Wyoming where he performed in orchestra, jazz band, wind band, and other groups. During this time he was introduced to audio production and fell in love with its balance of art and science. Graduating in 2012 with an Associates in Music Technology, he continued his studies at Webster University in St. Louis. While enjoying his time in St. Louis, he also worked as Assistant Engineer for the Pan Galactic Company recording the St. Louis Symphony, Sean Jones, and more. In 2014 he won the Central Region Audio Student Summit Mix Competition. After graduating in 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts in Audio Production, he began an internship at Tippet Rise Arts Center as recording engineer for the summer concert series. He now works full time at Tippet Rise as their audio engineer helping push the boundaries of music recording with 3D audio recording and mixing for classical music and films. Monte still finds time to do freelance work recording and mixing local musicians and more.
